A nice easy stop, the Forest Sky Pier in Orara East State Forest is…
Moonee Beach
This tranquil little town on the Coffs Coast is best visited for its beautiful creek mouth that’s great for bird watching and on lead dog walks as well as kayaking and fishing and there was also people surfing.
Moonee Beach Caravan Park – Reflections Holiday Park Moonee Beach
I had Reflections Moonee Beach on my list of places to camp and showed up for one night. I ended up staying 6, 3 camping in my van and 3 in a beach view cabin because I loved it so much.
As a solo traveller it was great place to stay as their unpowered section is under the trees and un-designated camping. It meant my dog and I could camp with plenty of space while still feeling safe and having access to toilets and showers (this was in winter, in summer its very very busy).
Unpowered Camping at Moonee Beach
The unpowered camping is spread out around the caravan park. The majority of the campsites run between the beach and stingray creek and are under towering trees full of parrots chattering away.
This side has its own toilet and shower block. There are also some of the Moonee Creek site with access to a public toilet block close or caravan park ammenities at the top of the hill.
Both sections are a sloped camping area with some flat sites at the bottom. When I visited in July there was heaps of flat camping sites, in busy times it would be a little harder.
Powered Camping
The powered section is a mix of both powered sites and permanent resident sites. There are much less trees in this section but you are surrounded by the trees of the park. This area has access to the main toilet blocks with the laundry and other facitilities.
Accommodation
Moonee beach has plenty of accommodation choices and many of them are dog friendly.
