Dog Friendly
In 2024 I took a road trip with my doggo to the South Coast of NSW. Here are some ideas for dog-friendly things to do along the South Coast that I visited or found while researching.

Drink with a view
The Seahorse Inn Hotel & Villas (which also has dog friendly Villa accommodation) has tables on the grass which are dog friendly and boast a nice view across the bay.
Accommodation
The Reflections Holiday Park at Eden has dog friendly cabins and is just over the road from a dog beach. The cabins are retro but were very clean and have a fenced deck so your furry family member can be offlead while you enjoy a morning coffee or dinner outside.

Hire a dog friendly boat/canoe at Narooma Marina
Narooma Marina rents kayaks, canoes and small boats and bbq boats which require a boat licenc neither. The boats and watersports option are dog friendly and the Marina even has doggy life jackets you can hire!
Our doggo was pretty unsure about getting on the boat, I think mostly because of the deck surface/the boat wobbling but as soon as the boat started moving she loved it, like a giant car window haha
We would have turned back of course if she was still stressed a few minutes in so be mindful that if you havnt been in a boat with your dog before they may decided its not for them!
*Dog Reactive Dog Notes – there are several small resident off-lead dogs that may approach on the deck area
Dog Friendly Walks
Bodalla State Forest
The Narooma area is one of the few sections of this coast where the state forest are marked as having designated walking tracks.
Box Cutting Rainforest Walk
A lovely little dog friendly loop walk in the rainforest. It starts with a short walk along a gravel road from the parking area (maybe 20 metres), descends into the rainforest valley then climbs back out again. It pops out around 50 metres or so up the gravel road so you will have to walk on the edge to return to the car.
Lake Mummuga Walking Track
A touch over a 2km return walk according to the forestry website that takes you through forest to Lake Mummunga. Unfortunatley I didn’t get a chance to do this walk, its gone on the list for next time!
Dog friendly Accommodation Narooma
I stayed at Discovery Parks Narooma which has three 2 Bedroom Dog friendly cabins. The deck is fully fenced so you can sit outside or have the door open and your dog can wander the cabin and deck blissfully lead free.
These cabins are in the caravan park area, rather than the cabin area, great if your travelling with campers but a bit sad to miss out on a stay in the bushier beach end where the rest of the cabins are.
*Dog Reactive Dog notes – the 3 cabins face into each other like 3 sides of square so your dog will be able to see other dogs out on the deck plus in the campground
Narooma to Batemans Bay
This is a really lovely of coast with loads of little bays to visit, some are dog friendly but many where timeshare meaning that dogs are only allowed early morning and late at night.
