Eden in New South Wales is a nice little town for a beach centred dog-friendly weekend away or as a stop on a South Coast/East Coast road trip with your dog.
This article is mix of personal experience and researched for you options to help you plan your trip!
Dog friendly Accommodation near Eden
There is actually a heap of great dog friendly accommodation options around Eden, especially for a smaller size town. Dog friendly status can sometimes change with new owners etc so always double check the details when booking.
Reflections Holiday Park Eden – Central Location
Reflections Eden is in a great location between a lake (which I never made it to see) and across from a nice little dog-friendly beach*. It’s only a few km to town, you could walk it to head out for dinner or coffee, but it is up a hill and realistically we just stopped in on the way out/home from activities.
The park has dog-friendly campsites and also dog-friendly accommodation. The standard dog-friendly cabins (booking.com), which sleep 6, are nice and clean with a fenced deck which was a nice place to have morning coffee and listen to the birds – however, it is an older style cabin and there is no oven in the kitchen (which we only found out after we brought food and had to finger out how to fry it all instead lol). I would stay again for the great location.
*Reactive Dog/Dogs in training notes: The beach is fairly narrow and runs parallel to a road (cars go slower as it ends in a carpark) so if you need to avoid other dogs or your dogs recall is patchy it may not be the best dog beach for you.

Seahorse Inn Hotel & Villas – Luxury Choice
The Seahorse Inn Hotel & Villas (booking.com) is a 10-minute drive south of Eden and has pet friendly villa accommodation. It’s a beautiful absolute beachfront property (and the beach is dog-friendly on leash) with a dog-friendly restaurant/bar with beach views (beer garden type tables on the lawn or the paved patio section).
The dog-friendly accommodation is Villas a short walk from the main Heritage Hotel. I didn’t stay here, though I would love to next time, but I did visit the restaurant for a beer with a view!
It even has an off-lead dog beach out the front. This was a lovely quiet beach when we visited later in the January school holidays though we visited on a very quiet weekday and I would imagine it could be much busier on a warm weekend day.

Eden Motel – Good Value

The Eden Motel has an excellent guest rating on booking.com.
We nearly stayed here to break up our long drive home but ultimately we didn’t only because we decided we need to be closer to Victoria and opted for Marlo.

Seasonal Dog-Friendly Options
Ingenia Eden – Beachfront Location
Ingenia Eden is located absolute beachfront and creek front location a and is dog friendly nearly all year round, with a short period of no pets allowed from December 26 to January 16. This means families could still have a dog friendly holiday in the latter part of the summer school holidays.
I also checked with Ingenia and both the beach and creek are dog friendly so I will be adding a night here on my next NSW trip!

Discovery Parks Eden – Family friendly

In a great beachfront location, a 10 minute drive from town Discovery Parks Eden is unfortunately ‘No pets allowed between 15 December & 31 January and Easter Holidays‘. It’s beach is dog friendly on lead.
If you’re visiting outside the restricted holidays it’s a great choice as it’s on the beach, within walking distance to Seahorse Inn for a dog friendly beer with a view and has a beautiful pool plus kid-friendly facilities.

Dog friendly Things to do near Eden
Eden Dog Beaches
There are a couple of dog friendly beaches in Eden and some nearby as well. The council has a dog beach page – it doesn’t have google map but click on the beach name to see the map.
was disappointed none of the calm swimable river mouths were dog friendly as I’m not really a wave person much to the disgust of my surfing travel companion (except one that wasn’t particularly sandy or nice). But you can head north to Pamubla River mouth which is dogs allowed on lead.
Nullica State Forest
After driving round for hours looking for a safe clear river mouth to swim near eden I’m gutted to have discovered while doing this article there is apparently an inland swimming hole in Nullica State Forest. This is dog friendly as all State Forests in NSW are (as at 2024). How to get there is a mystery to me though, there’s very little information on the foresty page so I will update this post when I’m back later in the year!
Unfortunately this state forest has no dedicated walking tracks so you are limited to gravel roads and MTB tracks and you would want to only walk on flat green rated tracks to avoid anything downhill as people cannot stop to avoid you on downhill or narrow tracks.

Seahorse Inn Hotel & Villas
The dog friendly tables at the Seahorse are on the lawn or the pavers and there is great views towards the beach (which is also dog friendly off lead).
